WATCH A CLASS!

Rhythm & Motion Dance Workout is a high energy dance-based workout class

founded in 1979 by dancer and choreographer, Consuelo Faust.

R&M's Dance Workout develops fitness through dance and creative self-expression.

Most importantly, these classes are FUN!

SF Weekly named our R&M Dance Workout San Francisco's Best Dance/Exercise class in 2006,

stating "these carefully structured one-hour classes stimulate the body and raise the spirit way above that of a dull exercise class!"

What differentiates R&M's dance workout from other workout programs?

The choreography is drawn from a broad range of movement styles,

including hip hop, jazz, African dance, contemporary, Latin dance, martial arts, and yoga,

and is inspired by an eclectic mix of international and popular music.

The classes are taught by well known Bay Area dancers, choreographers, and performers.


We offer four kinds of classes within the dance workout program:  try one that best fits your dance desires!

 

FUSION RHYTHMS

  • Our classic R&M workout
  • Fuses dance styles and eclectic music to create an invigorating, physically challenging, and fun experience
  • Class Structure: begins with choreography to wake up the body, followed by high energy dancing designed to improve stamina and strength. Class continues on the floor with abdominal strengthening as well as leg work to increase flexibility and muscular development. Each class ends with stretching and relaxation.

MODERN RHYTHMS

  • A more lyrical and contemporary approach to dance workout
  • Set to music that crosses borders
  • Class Structure: begins with a standing warm-up which moves to the floor for strengthening abdominals and legs. Returning to standing, the tempo increases and class culminates with high energy choreography and arm work.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RHYTHMS & ESSENTIAL MODERN RHYTHMS

  • Focus on learning R&M choreography and understanding the fundamentals of dance technique
  • Each serves as an introductory class for new students and offers another way for ongoing students to deepen their R&M workout experience.
